- Live marketing service provider signs Net Zero Carbon Events Pledge
- Environmental and climate protection strategically critical for corporate success
- Customers and investors expect the events industry to operate in a sustainable manner
Frankfurt am Main, November 10, 2021
„We are aware that the events industry per se has a large carbon footprint. However, we also know that our customers will measure us in the future by how sustainably we work. This is why a voluntary commitment to reducing CO2 emissions is not greenwashing for us, but is key to the success of our company," says Joern Trierweiler, CEO of E3 WORLD. E3 WORLD's signature on the Net Zero Carbon Events Pledge will be officially unveiled to the global public by industry leaders today, Wednesday 10 November 2021, at the UN Climate Change Conference COP26 in Glasgow, Scotland.
Sustainable business and projects for environmental and climate protection are strategic topics for E3 WORLD, and are not just commercially necessary with regard to customer relations. It is well known that investors, funds and banks are also increasingly shifting away from companies that are not prepared to tackle the risks of climate change. Conversely, investors are planning to invest more money in climate protection. Joern Trierweiler emphasises: "In addition to our customers, our shareholder Pemberton in particular will be paying very close attention to ensuring that E3 WORLD operates in a carbon neutral way in the future.”
As a signatory to the Net Zero Carbon Events Pledge, E3 WORLD joins UFI The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry in an initiative spearheaded by the Joint Meetings Industry Council (JMIC), the global umbrella organisation for the events industry. Members of the entire events industry supply chain were involved in developing and implementing the plans in the run-up to the UN Climate Change Conference.
So far, over 100 companies from every region around the world have signed up as supporters. They undertake to publish a catalogue of measures by the end of 2023 that will enable them to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 at the latest. An initial milestone would be compliance with the Paris Climate Accords to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions by 50 per cent by 2030. In addition, the signatories commit to working with partners, suppliers and customers to drive change along the entire value chain and to measure and monitor CO2 emissions in line with best practice.
